ANGEL TAVERAS ANNOUNCES PLAN FOR JOBS & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN PROVIDENCE

PROVIDENCE - On Thursday morning at the Providence-based biotech company EpiVax, in front of over 40 business owners, economic development analysts and supporters, Angel Taveras delivered a speech outlining his plan for Job Creation in Providence.

“Putting people back to work and getting our economy moving again is the single most important issue in this election and will be the top priority of my administration.  I am excited to share my plan for rebuilding Providence’s economy and investing in our neighborhood small businesses.”

The release of Taveras’ job creation plan follows on the heels of other community-based policy announcements where Taveras brought leading community advocates together to create policies for strengthening Providence’s school as well as supporting the arts and the creative economy.

“I have spent months and months meeting with small business owners, economic experts and the unemployed and underemployed across our city.  We have brought people together and created an economic development policy that will put people back to work and revive Providence’s economy,” said Taveras.  “I am thrilled to be hosting this event at EpiVax, a company that represents both the cutting edge in scientific research and our city’s emerging high-tech and life science industry.  As Mayor, I will do absolutely everything in my power to ensure that City Hall fights for all of our local businesses, whether you’re a local retailer, a neighborhood barbershop or a Fortune 500 company.”

“Angel is the candidate in the Mayor’s race who will put Providence back to work,” said Christine Malecki West, of William Kite Architects, Inc., a member of the Taveras campaign’s economic development policy council.  “Angel understands that small businesses are the backbone of our city’s economy.  He owns a small business himself and he understands what it takes to pay the rent and make payroll.  He understands what entrepreneurs deal with when interacting with the city.  And he will open the doors of City Hall to small businesses and, most importantly, get the red tape out of our way.”
