The day after Angel Taveras won the Democratic Primary for Mayor of Providence by 20% over his closest competitor, he went to La Salle Bakery near his home in the neighborhoods of Elmhurst and Mt. Pleasant to thank the voters of Providence. 



Taveras won the Democratic Primary by winning 11 of the city's 15 wards.    

The final vote tally was as follows:

Angel TAVERAS (DEM) - 11,897 - 49.1%
John Joseph LOMBARDI (DEM) - 7,050 - 29.1%
Steven M. COSTANTINO (DEM) - 4,867 - 20.1%
Christopher YOUNG (DEM) - 392 - 1.6%
